Since my character spends most of his time as a villain, it is difficult to relate to him, however, he is very passionate and intense and I can relate to that! It is also very fun to play the villain.

Why should audience members see this opera?

Going to the opera is a great experience that often leaves you laughing, crying, and feeling completely invested in the storyline. If you’ve never been, Mozart’s “Lucio Silla” is a wonderful introduction.

What’s unique about singing Mozart?

Mozart forces you to be extremely accurate in delivering his style which is unlike any other composer. Mozart is a lifetime of study. I love singing Mozart because it’s healthy for the voice. I wish I could sing more Mozart. It is a welcome challenge, which I embrace as a singer.

If you could ask your character any one question, what would you ask and why?

What took you so long to start making the right decisions in life and are you happy with the outcome? I am curious as to why his actions didn’t drive him mad sooner.

If you could meet one of the characters in Lucio Silla, who would you meet and why?

I would want to meet Lucio because his character is so different from my own…and so I could talk some sense into him.

What is your favorite part of the opera rehearsal process?

My favorite part of practice is the first rehearsal because that’s when I get to meet all of the other members who will help bring the opera to life. I also really look forward to the dress rehearsal since that’s the first time I get to see the results of our hard work.

Any words of wisdom for young opera singers?

As an aspiring opera singer you will get a lot of advice, but what I would say is to always be true to yourself as a performer.
